Talk about the shock of my life!!

The hubby and I got to the doc's office fully expecting things to go just as we planned - we were going a beautiful, healthy baby girl around Christmas time. Well we got one part right - we got healthy but our baby is all BOY! We were both shocked, our families were shocked and I'd be lying if I didn't say that I cried a little. It's hard to think of never playing with dolls or painting toenails - I don't really know what to do with a boy and hubby and his son are so close that I already feel a little left out. Hubby was a bit sad too - he really wanted a little princess to twirl around and play with. Don't get me wrong - we are so thrilled that we are having a baby and I thank God everyday that he is healthy and strong. But this is it - this little boy completes our family so I will be the mother of a son rather than a daughter - not how I planned it out but perfect regardless.

So now I have to figure out a boy's name - I'm not joking when i say that we had a girl's name picked out, clothes, nursery stuff - all in girl.

Let me be the first to say boys are SO MUCH FUN!!! And congratulations!!!

I know you had your heart set on a girl. I had MY heart set on a girl for you. :) But as the mom of 2 boys...they are the biggest blessing EVER! They are so fun and my oldest is so active. And boys are LOVERS!! Oh my...both of mine are cuddlers...and my 4 y/o STILL loves to be rocked at night. I don't know of any girls like that! Your life will be full with this boy, I promise you that. My DH and I have already decided that we would have 3...and I will admit that yes I want #3 to be a girl, but if it's a boy, I am completely happy with that as long as they are all healthy. You are going to LOVE being a mom to a boy!!!

i used to feel that way - wanting a girl more than a boy but so many of my friends have boys and they are SO adorable... plus, i love the color blue so i'm not worried... i have a gut feeling i'll have boys anyway since i have 3 nieces... you'll enjoy him just as much, don't worry... and no one will know if you paint his toenails pink! ;o)

Steph ..Frank and I wanted to be suprised on the birth day. I remember wanting a girl so bad too and when they said "you have a boy" I was like me? What a boy? What will I do with a boy???ughhh....
And that feeling only lasted ONE MOMENT and then I fell in love with him. I then thought GOD knew what he was doing by giving me a boy!!!
Trust me after all these years... I can honestly say after having both...he is LESS TROUBLE!! LOL
You will love this little boy to peices and think to yourself later "I can't believe I wanted a girl...what was I thinking?"
Hugs and congrats!!!

Aw, congrats! Team Blue doesn't seem to be all that bad.....I hear that while Team Pink decides their mothers are evil in their teens, Team Blue loves them unconditionally 'til the end of time. So consider yourself lucky. :) Good luck with boy names!

I was nervous about having a girl. I thought for sure we were having a boy. I know what to do with boys, I grew up with BOYS. Girls I didn't know what to do with (even though technically I AM one)

But once you see your baby boy. You'll know that HE is the only one for you.

Oh it's no wonder I was confused by the peacock outfit you posted on the previous blog !!!

Well, you could try to bring the boy up very very camp, and still dress him up and get him to play with dolls .... but he might not thank you for it !!!

See now I'm the exact opposite, I want boys, I don't know what I would do with a girl! ha ha!

Congratulations to you and your family! I know that you are thrilled that your little boy is healthy. One of the positives of having a boy is that you won't have to deal with the female hormones.

Congrats, sorry it didn't work out as planned, but he'll be so cute and perfect. Can't wait to hear about the names.

Happy Baby News! I 'knew' I was having a boy. I've wanted a boy for as long as I can remember. After the birth of my daughter, it took a week for reality to set in. For baby #2 I thought I was having a boy again, but left room for the reality that my 'wants' may be wrong. They were. So, with or without a boy, my family is complete. Funny thing - kids are lovable, regardless of gender.
