Nursery Decor & Names

Hi all! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on our baby boy. I have to say that the hubby and I are much better now that we have gotten used to the idea. It's funny how you plan out your life and never give a thought to the fact that it might not really turn out like that.......we just always planned to have a girl and to hear we were having a boy really threw us for a loop. We are great now and are excited that our little boy will be here in just a few months.

I didn't update on my weight gain because the gender news was much more important but I had gained 5 pounds. Much better than last time but geez - I'm going to spin classes, walking and even went hiking one day while camping. The doc isn't worried and just keeps telling me that some people are prone to gain more than others - I guess??? Speaking of spin classes, I'm not sure how much longer I can hang in there. The bike is getting more and more uncomfortable and I'm having a harder time fitting between the seat and the handlebars.....my goal is to make it 6 more weeks and then I'll probably have to give in and stick with walking :(

On to names - we are thinking of William Davis and calling him Davis. This is a family name and would honor my dad and my great grandfather. We've also thought of Lucas William and calling him Luke. Anybody have any other suggestions?? We aren't really in to trendy names so that cuts out a lot of the cutesy names that are popular right now. We also like Gavin, Aaron and Grant.......let me know what you think.

Last thing - here is our nursery decor - we're going to paint the top 3/4 of the wall a butter yellow and the bottom a soft blue. We're going to stamp lily pads and frogs on the bottom half and paint willow stalks on the yellow - to give it a "pond like" appearance. The hubby has been so great and he is willing to do anything that I ask of him - man I hope he stays like this after the baby gets here??? :-)

(((HUGS))) to all!!

OOH!!!!! I LOVE the nursery!!!! I was actually coming here to leave you a comment...I want your email address--if you don't mind me having it. :)

I love the name Lucas!! And Gavin, and Grant. I've never heard Davis as a first name before, but I like it! Our other ideas were Elijah (Eli), Nicholas (Nic) and Matthew.

Are you willing to share the name you had picked out for a girl? ;)

And 5# since your last visit which was probably 4 weeks ago?? That's not bad at all! That's a hair over a pound a week. You should be proud! You're doing great!!! And spin classes still? That's awesome! Keep it up...you're doing fabulous!

The nursery is adorable.

And I know I'm not much of a help, but I love Luke, and I love Gavin and Grant too!

That bedding is adorable. I love all the names you have chosen. Can't wait to hear what is decided.

I love the nursery! As someone who goes by their middle name, if thats the name you are going to use, put it first, not in the middle and save the little guy years of having to correct people like I've done.

I like the name Jackson but I like Davis too.

I agree with scale junkie. I have seen similar problems. Whatever you want to call him use as the first name. I like Luke, but not Lucas. Grant Davis sounds cool, like a movie star name. But I LOVE Gavin. That's so cute! Maybe Gavin Davis? That even sounds cute!

Just out of curiosity was there a specific reason you thought that you were having a girl? Or was it just random?

Of your suggestions I like: Gavin and Grant best, Davis is interesting and unusual, and I also like Luke / Lucas.

Personally I don't like the "William Davis" thing and then to be known as "Davis" only because I think it can cause confusion later in life if you have to keep explaining why your initials are WD... but you are known as Davis.

One of my brothers was christened Alexander Michael but quickly became "Mike" and he hates having to list AM..... on everything and explain that Alexander is his real first name.

Just a thought.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the froggie theme, so cute. DH is awesome for helping out and I cannot wait to see pics of the finished room!
I love the names, Gavin and Grant are my favorite though. Davis is really different and I like that!

OMG My mom is going to "flip out" when I show her your nursery bedding!! She LOVES frogs! I am talking about she has over 300 in her house right now!! LOL
I told her when she dies we are going to have one hell of a garage sale!!
She was mortified and said "NO your not....you better donate them to the FROG MUESEM in Rayne, LA"...and she was SERIOUS!!! LOL

I love the names Lucas or Jackson best. Luke will ALWAYS remind me of "LUKE and LAURA" off of General Hospital!! LOL. I know several boys at Rebecca's school named Gavin and 1 guy named Grant but he is an older gentleman!!

It's funny because when I was PG with Josh and I was thinking I TOO was going to have a girl, I picked out the name "Danica" it sounded so romantic and went perfect with our last name! She would have been "Danica DeVillier"....Very French! I don't know if it sounds more like a romance novel writer or a PORN star...LOL.

But thankfully I came to my scences and didn't use it for Rebecca when she was born!! I actually decided to pick both of my kids name from the bible because they both were "gifts from God" because we had tried and tried for so long too!!
You know Matthew means "Gift of God".. have you guys thought of that?

I am absolutely in love with your nursery! I love frogs and the colors are so soft and soothing. I can't wait to see pics of the finished nursery. Please share them. I like all of your names. William has always been on my list because my maiden name is Williams. So, we would call a son Will. My husband loves Grant. So, you have a hard decision to make. I can't wait to hear what you decide.
